Nuclear
Handling systems for highly critical applications.
In the nuclear sector, every handling operation requires higher levels of safety, reliability and control than conventional applications.
The presence of radioactive material, the limited accessibility of certain areas and the need to keep the load under control even in abnormal conditions call for a design approach in which redundancy, recoverability and safe handling management are fundamental from the earliest engineering stages.
We build special automatic cranes for handling and storing radioactive waste, systems for handling casks and containers holding radioactive material, and equipment dedicated to process buildings.
We design each system considering not only the normal operating cycle, but also degraded conditions, maintenance activities and the recovery modes associated with the loss of individual functions.
The control architectures integrate redundant functions, independent monitoring systems, interlocks and devices dedicated to safely holding the load, with the goal of maintaining control of the handling operation even in the event of faults or abnormal conditions.
When direct operator access needs to be limited or avoided, we integrate remote control, positioning systems, sensors and automatic or semi-automatic sequences.
In the nuclear sector, designing a lifting machine is not only about performing the handling operation, but about maintaining control of it throughout the entire operating cycle and under all the conditions foreseen by the design.
